This curried cauliflower crostini is a simple and quick appetiser bringing a wonderful fusion of Italian and Indian cuisine.
In this recipe Cauliflower is cooked off in mild curry flavour and with a hint of spice. The combination with crispy baguette and a creamy layer of cream cheese this Curried cauliflower crostini is a sure winner.
I have used Gaban Curry powder, you can replace with any curry powder available with you.
For cream cheese I used Arla cream cheese as it is 100 % natural and additive free.
What is crostini
Crostini means “little toasts” in Italian, crostini are small, thin slices of toasted bread, which are usually brushed with olive oil. The word similar to canapés consisting of small slices of toast with a savory toppings.

Prep work :
- Clean and Cut the cauliflower florets and wash them clean, can soak them in warm water to remove insects if any.
- Slice cherry tomatoes in half
- Slice the baguette into 1/4 inches and keep it ready
- Finely chop corriander leaves
1/2 large Cauliflower head
2 tsp Oil
1 tsp Butter or ghee
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
1 pod Garlic (finely chop)
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Red chilli powder
2 tsp Curry powder
1 loaf Baguette
3-4 tbsp Cream cheese (or as desired)
Cherry tomatoes (as desired)
Corriander leaves (for garnish)
Olive oil (to toast the crostini)
To prepare the cauliflower :
Clean and Cut the cauliflower florets and wash them clean, can soak them in warm water to remove insects if any.
Steam the cut and cleaned cauliflower florets until tender and keep it aside.
To prepare the Baguette :
Slice the baguette into 1/4 inches and drizzle olive oil on each slice generously and toast it in a grill until crispy.
To Prepare curried cauliflower :
Take a pan, add oil + Butter/Ghee and once melted, add cumin seeds and allow It to sizzle for a couple of seconds.
Add turmeric powder and finely chopped Garlic and mix it in. Add in the steamed cauliflower, add salt red chilli powder, curry powder and mix it in. Break the cauliflower into smaller chunks.
Drizzle a little oil to cook if needed. Remove from heat and keep it aside.
To Assemble the curried cauliflower crostini :
Spread cream cheese on top of toasted baguette slices, add 2 tsp of curried cauliflower and tp it off with halved cherry tomatoes and sprinkle some corriander leaves.
You can use rusk as a replacement to baguette.
To make it plant based you can used vegan cream cheese or make one easily by blending firm tofu with a drizzle of lemon juice to make vegan cream cheese.
